The Casa Batlló represents Catalan modernism. It is located in Paseo de Gracia, a famous avenue in Barcelona. It was built in 1875 by Emilio Sala Cortés but later the Batlló Family bought it and decided to call Gaudí to remodel it. The remodeling went on for 2 years. Gaudí designed it the house was a sea inside. Eg: the roof and the chimney were made mosaics to look like a dragon. In Casa Batlló Gaudí used a lot of ''Trencadís'', which is a material obtained from pieces of glass and ceramics of waste. The changes made by Gaudí were radical, in fact, it is practically a new bulding. On the facade he added new balconies, inside he reorganized the spaces to get more lighting and ventilation and he added 2 floors.
Finally i will said my experience in Casa Batlló. I had a great expierence there, in Casa Batlló they give you an auidoguide for you to know all the history an also to see how it was before (all the furtniture). We spendt a lot of time there. For me the best thing was the roof, because I could see all the city of Barcelona. I would recommend it for all the tourists.
